Authorities said the body of 7-year-old Athena Strand was found in Wise County late Friday night and a FedEx driver was arrested and charged with her kidnapping and murder.
According to public records, the suspect, 31-year-old Tanner Lynn Horner, was from Fort Worth. He is in the Wise County Jail on charges of aggravated murder and kidnapping. Authorities said he confessed to the crime and told them where Athena’s body was.
According to Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin, Horner was near Athena’s home at the time of her disappearance on Wednesday, and law enforcement received information to investigate. FedEx is cooperating with an investigation involving the FBI and the Texas Rangers.
