AChelsea’s youth team were beaten in Abu Dhabi by Premier League rivals Aston Villa on their return from the World Cup break.
While all the usual warnings should be heeded, Graham Potter’s side were a disappointment and proved incapable of reacting to John McGinn’s seventh minute goal despite seeing a lot of the ball.
However, the biggest worry is Armando Broia’s injury. The striker was substituted at half-time with what appears to be a serious knee injury, with the Albania international looking to be in pain after clashes with Ezri Konsa and Robin Olsen.
One of Chelsea’s bright spots is Omari Hutchinson. The 19-year-old, brought to the club as part of an added focus on improving youth chances, hit the post in a brilliant display shortly after McGinn’s goal and caused problems all night.
