France star Antoine Griezmann will be sorely disappointed if Didier Deschamps imposes a new sex ban ahead of their crucial World Cup game against England.
The reigning champions meet the Three Lions on Saturday night hoping to further defend the crown won in Russia four years ago.
Griezmann has been an integral part of the French machine in Qatar, having started three of their four games so far. The only match the Atlético Madrid players did not take part in was the heavy defeat against Tunisia.
France have finished one round better than their last appearance at a major tournament after Switzerland were knocked out in the last 16 of Euro 2020.
Griezmann drew attention to the camp’s sex ban during a transcontinental competition just over 12 months ago, revealing: ‘We can’t touch anyone, not even family members.
It’s difficult for everyone, especially for Griezmann who is married to Erika Choperena. The two started dating in 2011 after first seeing each other during their high school days.
Griezmann revealed in his autobiography that they started texting and he spent “a year and a half” courting her before Choperena finally agreed to date.
“Erika studied at the school where I trained, we crossed paths a few times and started exchanging messages,” the former Barcelona player wrote in his autobiography. “For a year and a half I wrote to him and tried to seduce him.
