PATRIOT CREATES A FOURTH IN DEFENSE IN 2022
The Patriots scored fourth on defense in 2022, second-highest in the NFL in 2022 behind Arizona’s five defensive tallies. DB Kyle Dugger forced a fumble after a brief reception by WR DeAndre Hopkins and LB Raekwon McMillan returned the ball for 23 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. DB Jack Jones returned 40 yards for a touchdown at Green Bay on October 2, DB Kyle Dugger returned 59 yards for a touchdown against Detroit on October 9, and CB Jonathan Jones returned 17 yards for a touchdown back against Indianapolis on November 6. The Patriots’ record for most defensive touchdowns in a season in 2007 is six.
PATRIOTS HAVE TWO PLAYERS TO REACH DOUBLE DIGITAL SACKS FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN TEAM HISTORY
With LB Matt Judon leading the team with 14½ sacks and LB Josh Uche hitting 10 sacks, the Patriots have two players scoring in double figures for the fourth time in team history (1977, 1985, 2011 and 2022). In 1977 Tony McGee (12.0) and Ray Hamilton (10.0) had double-digit sacks, in 1985 Andre Tippett (16.5) and Garin Verris (10.0) had at least 10 sacks, and in 2011 Andre Carter (10.0). ) and Mark Anderson (10.0) both had double-digit sacks.
PATRIOT TO ACHIEVE AT LEAST SIX SACKS IN THE GAME FOR A SECOND TIME IN 2022
The Patriots have six sacks against Arizona and are recording at least six sacks in a game for the second time in 2022. The Patriots have 9 sacks against Indianapolis on November 6.
PATRIOT HAS 45 BAGS SO FAR IN 2022
The Patriots now have 45 sacks this year and are third in the NFL behind Philadelphia (49) and Dallas (48). The Patriots are on track to finish with 58 sacks. If the Patriots continued their current pace, they would have had the second most sacks in team history behind 66 in 1963. The Patriots also had 58 sacks in 1977. The most sacks for Bill Belichick’s team in 2015 was 49 sacks.

LB JOSH UCHE HAS A SECOND 3 SACK GAME OF 2022
LB Josh Uche had his second 3 sack game of the 2022 season. He also had three sacks with the New York Jets on October 30. Andre Tippett (3 in 19856 and 3 in 1987) and Mike Vrabel (2 in 2007) are the only Patriots players with multiple 3 sack games in a season.
LEARN THE NEXT GAME FROM 2 SACKS TO 3 SACKS
Uche had two sacks against Buffalo on December 1 and followed that game with three sacks against Arizona. He is the first Patriots player since Trey Flowers in 2016 to go two straight games with at least two sacks. Flowers got two sacks in Buffalo (30/10), followed by two sacks against Seattle (13/11).
2022 SIXTH ROUND DRAFT RB KEVIN HARRIS CREATES FIRST NFL TOUCHDOWN
2022 sixth-round draft pick RB Kevin Harris saw his most significant action after stepping back after RB Ramondre Stevenson was injured early in the game. He scored his first NFL touchdown on a 14-yard rush to close an 8-play, 75-yard drive in the second quarter. Harris carried 3 carries for 32 yards on that trip. He entered with just 4 attempted rushes for 4 yards and only 13 offensive shots. Harris finished with a touchdown with 8 rushing attempts for 26 yards.
PIERRE STARK JR. HAS RUNNING 44 YARDS IN THE THIRD QUARTER
RB Pierre Strong Jr.’s 2022 fourth-round draft pick. hit a quick 44-yard dash for his second NFL rushing effort in the third quarter. This is New England’s second 40-yard streak of 2022. RB Rhamondre Stevenson had a 49-yard streak against Detroit on October 9 in the first quarter. Strong came on October 16 at Cleveland with only 1 rush for 5 yards. He finished the game with 5 carries for 70 yards with a touchdown.
POWERFUL RUN IN THE FIRST NFL TD IN THE FOURTH QUARTER
Strong scored his first NFL touchdown on a 3-yard streak in the fourth quarter.
MARCUS JONES RECORDED THE NFL’S FIRST BEGINNING
Marcus Jones intercepted a pass from QB Colt McCoy for his first NFL interception of the third quarter.
HUNTER HENRY FOURTH 30 YARD RECEPTION OF THE 2022 SEASON
TE Hunter Henry caught a 39-yard receiving from QB Mac Jones to make a touchdown in the fourth quarter. This was his fourth 30-yard receiving of the 2022 season. He had a 37-yard touchdown at Minnesota on November 24, a 31-yard touchdown at Cleveland on October 16, and a 30-yard touchdown against Indianapolis on November 6.
This is the second-longest career catch of Henry after the 59-yarder he had at Oakland on October 9, 2016 while playing for the Chargers.
DL DANIEL EQUALE RECORD FIRST 2022 SEASON
DL Daniel Equale recorded his first sack of the season with a third down game in the third quarter to force a punt.
LB RAEKWON MCMILLAN EARNS THE FIRST NFL TOUCHDOWN
LB Raekwon McMillan scored his first NFL touchdown when he fumbled and returned it for 23 yards in the third quarter.
PEOPLE EXTEND THE RECORD
Faulk extended his streak of 58 straight field goals under 40 yards with a 23-yard field goal in the third quarter. His last completion under 40 yards was a 21-yard field goal attempt on October 12, 2017 against New England while playing for Tampa Bay. The NFL record for consecutive field goals under 40 yards is 70 by Baltimore’s Justin Tucker (2016-2020).
FOLK CONNECT FOR 2022 SEASON 50 YARD THIRD GOAL
Faulk scored a 51-yard field goal late in the first half. This was his third 50-yard field goal of the season. In 2021, he set a team record for most 50-yard field goals in a season with five touchdowns. Steven Gostkowski also has five goals in 2013.
JUDON INCREASES TOTAL BAGS TO 14 ½ BAGS
LB Matthew Juden combined with DL Lawrence Guy for 5-yard sacks in the first quarter, then added a 13-yard sack in the fourth to bring his total to 14 1/2 sacks and tied Nick Bosa for the NFL lead. Judon is on track to finish with 19 sacks. Andre Tippett, at 18½ in 1984 and 16½ in 1985, is the only Patriots player to have more sacks than the Jews in a single season.
COMPOSITION NOTES
- DB Jack Jones started the season for the second time by replacing the injured Jalen Mills. It was the start of his second career. Jones also started at Green Bay on 2 October
- OL Conor McDermott made his second start in a row with a proper tackle.
- LB Jamie Collins Sr. promoted to the active squad and played in his second game of the season. Collins played in both Patriots games Monday night. He played Chicago on October 24.
- OL Yodny Cajuste is back in action after being sidelined with injury.
